Kay Miller grew up in Texas & her early childhood was shaped by her passion for music. Kay began playing the piano when she was only four years old. A natural performer, she grew up in the spotlight and spent hours entertaining family and friends. She took piano lessons on and off for ten years and began playing for her local church. Music was her life and the highway to her heart and soul. Kay started playing the piano at weddings, schools, parties, and any special event that could help promote her love of music.

Kay’s musical career took an exciting turn at age 26 when she started playing regularly for a local Methodist church. It was there that she continued to perfect her own versatile style of music. It became an eclectic style embracing gospel, blues, rock, and jazz. Kay learned that she loved singing and began to pursue that gift in her life. A multi-talented musician, Kay’s voice has been described as an incredible mix of Norah Jones’ firecracker heat and Carole King’s soulful sound. Kay’s fresh and polished style opened up doors for her to play contemporary praise music at Christ Community Church in Beaumont, Texas. She still plays music there each Sunday morning with a talented music team and loves being part of the amazing blend of instruments and voices.

In 2004 Kay teamed up with a band called the Aces, a blues band that plays in Beaumont. Blues music is the style Kay truly enjoys playing and singing. She tells her friends, “This is the music where you can play your heart out, show your passion for music, and everyone around you knows and understands it.”

2006 would prove to be a fascinating year. Kay went to dinner with friends at Suga’s, an upscale restaurant in downtown Beaumont. There was a beautiful grand piano in the dining room and after dinner her friends asked if she would play a song. That song was the beginning of a new era in her life. After playing that night she was approached by management and offered a job performing on Friday evenings for dining entertainment. The offer soon extended to Saturday evenings and grew to include a forum for the Blues Band as well.

Private events, parties, weddings fill Kay’s calendar year round. She views performing as a way to establish communication with people and make everyday events become extra special moments. Reflecting on the new opportunities in her life Kay said, “It’s as if my life has come full circle. I started out alone, learned different styles of music in a band setting and then I was given the chance to perform those styles of music alone again—just me and the piano.” Kay is pursuing her music dream on a full time basis. She is steadily building a reputation as an artist who truly has a passion to share her music. Kay believes that God has given her this ability and she embraces the challenge to use her talents in a fresh, new way.

Kay is also now fulfilling a long awaited dream and is a college freshman once again. Only this time she is pursuing a degree as a commercial musician. "It's great to be in school again with the life experiences I have had it gives me a new perspective. With a new view and goal in mind, I am full steam ahead! I can hardly wait to see what life has in store for me!"
