Wayne Cook
Growing up in the Nederland/Port Neches area, Wayne first started singing and playing guitar in his local church.
After finishing his education, Wayne relocated to Hawaii to pursue his two passions in life…music and surfing.
While in Hawaii, Wayne formed the Lonestar Band, a musical mixture of outlaw country and southern rock. He enjoyed great success touring the Hawaiian Islands, Alaska, Canada, and overseas. He also did studio recording, local TV shows, and won the Battle of the Bands for two consecutive years.
Leaving the Hawaiian Islands briefly, Wayne also toured with original members of Bill Haley’s Comets performing in Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
After another stint of performing in Hawaii and touring overseas, Wayne returned to the mainland US and continued to tour as a bandleader and lead guitarist.
As his family grew, Wayne took the corporate route and became a District Sales Manager for Kaman Music Corporation, the parent company of Ovation Guitars, Takamine Guitars, Hamer Guitars, Gretsch Drums, Latin Percussion, and many other top brand musical instruments. Even with the pressures of family and corporate travel, Wayne still found time to pursue his passion for music and surfing.
Retiring from travel in the music industry in 2008, Wayne now has time to play music and surf when he wants. He still freelances as a lead guitarist/vocalist for local bands, but gets the most enjoyment from the intimacy of a nice restaurant, a small crowd, and an acoustic guitar.
The passion is still there and it shows in his work.
